My name is Charlie and I am a stay at home mama to two amazing children, a wife to my best friend, and a believer we can make a difference in this world we live in. My story started about 6 years ago when I met a fantastic woman, who quickly became on of my closest friends, and is one of a kind. She fought and beat breast cancer naturally which completely opened my eyes to the unknown. I was clueless regarding the foods we were eating, oblivious to the products we used on our bodies such as skin care, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, and completely ignorant when it came to the chemicals used in our home such as household cleaners and fragrances, down to the water we drink. Since meeting her and watching her story unfold before me, my world completely changed. I began reading books, doing research and questioning EVERYTHING that came into our home. I’m not going to lie…the first 3 months after realizing things I had always assumed were safe my entire life suddenly became terrifying and had many sleepless nights. Why would hazardous products be allowed and accepted into our homes? Why would personal care products be allowed to contain chemicals that were not regulated or tested for safety? Why would GMO’s be allowed in our food when they have not been proven safe? Why are food dyes along with other ingredients allowed in our foods here in the US while banned in most European countries? The list goes on and on and it horrified me. It still horrifies me. I had always assumed anything I picked up in the local grocery store was completely safe to bring into my home and sadly I started learning this is not true at all. I started educating myself on holistic healing, ditching my cleaners, cleaning out our cabinets of cheap plastic for clear glass, changing our laundry detergent, stopped using fabric softener sheets, cleaned our pantry from most boxed/processed items, dumped half of our condiments from the fridge…the list goes on and on. At first this was completely annoying to my husband but once he realized this wasn’t a fad, thankfully was completely amazing and supportive. I know at first he thought I had lost my marbles but as I slowly educated him on my findings and found articles to prove my point he started to come around. Slowly but surely his thought process began to shift as well. So here I am hoping to help open someone else’s eyes. Not to scare anyone but to help people see and question the products they have and use in their homes daily. I have seen too many people suffer and die from cancer as well as a range of other illnesses. My hope is if I can help a handful of people change their thinking maybe together we can make a bigger impact. I know there are no sure causes for disease (or cures) but if we can help our bodies to not become overloaded with unnecessary toxins maybe together we can make a difference and help change the terrifying statistics that are the new norm. I truly feel within my heart if we limit what we expose our bodies to we can see a new tomorrow.
